Balance
For some reason I always thought that when your children grew up, got married, and left home that things would slow down for us. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. I believe we are busier now than we ever were. Between work and church just about every evening has something going. The good side of that is that we are not sitting at home twiddling our thumbs and we are involved in Kingdom work - work that will have a lasting impact on eternity. However the flip side of that is I think we need a bit more "down" time to rest and recharge. We can get too busy that our own relationships - with God and with each other - can suffer. Somewhere, somehow I believe we need to find that balance . . . soon.

Much Ado About Nothing
Recently the blog bug has hit me. I have been feeling an urge to start blogging but did not know how to start. Well, I finally decided to just take the plunge. What will I write about? I don't know just quite yet, but I suspect my blogs will contain thoughts about my spiritual life and Christianity in general. I have observed an unintentional neglect by the church at large (no, not everyone) of the Holy Spirit so I suspect I may wander off in that direction in some of my writings. I also have a strong interest in politics, so that will pop up as well. That is why I decided to name the blog "Faith & Freedom".
To give you a hint of where I am coming from, I will share a bit of my background with you. I am an evangelical Christian who was born and raised in the midwest. Politically, I am a pro-family, pro-life social conservative. I supported Mike Huckabee in 2008 and hope to be able to again in 2012.
That's probably enough for right now. I need to do some thinking and then will be back.
